The Environmental Health Officer (EHO) undertakes a number of varied duties relating to Health and Waste Services within the Shire of Northam.

The EHO supervises the wastewater re-use scheme for irrigation of Council`s parks and recreational grounds.

The Shire's landfill sites are monitored by the EHO to ensure high environmental standards are maintained.

Furthermore, the Health Officer is responsible for conducting regular inspections of food handling premises.

The EHO processes and inspects septic tank/aerobic treatment unit applications, to ensure the relevant industry standards are maintained.

Should you have any complaints relating to noise, dust, smoke, smell, insect, vermin and other health nuisance complaints, please contact the Shire's Manager Health & Building or EHO who will investigate your concerns.

The EHO may also investigate food poisoning/contamination and infectious disease notifications.

In addition, the Health Officer maintains the Health Act, Local Laws and regulation systems in relation to the above issues.
