Waste Disposal Site
The Shire of Northam maintains two waste disposal sites, one on Old Quarry Road close to the town of Northam and one on Inkpen Road near to the town of Wundowie.
The waste disposal facility on Old Quarry Road is for public use seven days a week from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The facility is closed on Christmas Day and on Good Friday.
The Inkpen Road waste disposal site is open weekly for public use from Tuesday to Friday from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm and on Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The facility is closed on Mondays except for Public Holidays when it opens from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The site is closed on Christmas Day and on Good Friday.
Residential passes for the Old Quarry Road facility are available for Northam residents at the gatehouse entrance to the site and residents are allowed 12 free passes per year. The passes entitle the holder to deposit domestic rubbish only free of charge, including cars, utilities, vans and trailers not exceeding 1.8 m x 1.2 m x 0.6 m.
Entry passes to the Inkpen Landfill facility are posted to ratepayers annually with their rates notices. A 'tip pass' to Inkpen allows for the disposal of waste from cars, utilities, vans and trailers not exceeding 1.8m x 1.2m x 0.6m of domestic waste. Special rates occur for the disposal of car bodies and vehicle tyres.
All other rubbish must be paid for at the gate either in cash or by prepaid vouchers. Vouchers can be purchased from the gatehouse at the Colebatch Road waste disposal facility for that facility or at the Shire of Northam administration building for both facilities.
Monthly accounts will only be established for large operators and a minimum monthly account fee will apply.
The Colebatch Road Waste Disposal Site has a separate facility for effluent disposal which is available for use by approved contractors only at a prescribed fee.
