WALGA have announced a ground breaking project to transition 21 Local Governments in WA include the Shire of Northam to Electric Vehicles (EVs).
The Shire of Northam is one of 11 successful projects in WA to secure funding in the Club Night Lights Program (CNLP) through the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSC), to upgrade lighting or install new floodlights.
The Regional DAP Agenda for the meeting to be held on 26 March 2024 at 1.00 pm is now available on the DAP website at https://www.planning.wa.gov.au/development-assessment-panels/daps-agendas-and-minutes/regional-agenda-and-minutes. The meeting will consider the development application (ref: DAP/23/0535 - LG: P23011) for the proposed Hydrogen Plant at 131 Northam-York Road, Muluckine.
Please be advised the restricted burning period for the Shire of Northam is now in effect from 15th March 2024. Permits are available to primary producers only and are strictly for pre-season stubble burn.

The Shire of Northam would like to advise the community of upcoming Harvest, Vehicle, Movement (HVM), and Hot Works (HW) bans will be in place this upcoming festive season.
A timely reminder for residents to dispose of lithium batteries correctly after a rubbish truck fire in a neighbouring Shire this morning.ย Lithium batteries are found within e-waste components such as vapes, phones, laptops, electric toothbrushes, power tools and solar power back-up storage devices.ย The disposal of these devices in general waste, including bulk bins, can spark fires within the rubbish trucks.ย For more information about how you can dispose of E-Waste correctly, please clickย HERE
Wheatbelt NRM, in partnership with CBH, WEROC, and AROC, are undertaking a corella management project in the central Wheatbelt. ย To create a comprehensive plan for managing corellas in the Wheatbelt, NRM need to collect all available information in order to understand how the issue affects your area.
The Royal Life Saving Society WA (RLSSWA) has developed a unique program aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle for children in remote and regional communities. The program encourages aquatic centers to increase participation in swimming and consumption of the recommended daily standard serving of fruit. Take advantage of this FREE program every Tuesday and Thursday from 4pm to 5pm for kids aged 5-17. Enjoy free fruit and a chance to win some exciting prizes.
