CHRISTMAS OFFICE AND SERVICE TRADING HOURS

The Shire of Northam wishes to advise of changes to office and service trading hours. Changes can be viewed here. Operating hours will return to normal from Tuesday, 2 January 2018 unless otherwise advised.

EXPRESSION OF INTEREST
Community Membership on Council Committees

The Shire of Northam is seeking expressions of interest from community members to become a community representative on the following Committee’s;

  • Community Safety Committee (2 representatives);
  • Art Collection Committee (2 representatives); and
  • Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group (4 Aboriginal and Torres Strait representatives).

Individuals interested in being considered for one of the positions available should familiarise themselves with the committees Terms of Reference and submit an application form no later than Friday, 15th December 2017.

BURNING TIMES & PERMITS TO BURN

The "Prohibited Burning Time" means the 1 December each calendar year through until 28 February the following calendar year (inclusive, and as varied pursuant to Sections 17 and 18 of the Bush Fires Act 1954).

The "Restricted Burning Time" means the 1 October through until 30 November and the 1 March through until 30 April each calendar year (inclusive, and as varied pursuant to Sections 17 and 18 of the Bush Fires Act 1954).

The Shire of Northam wishes to advise that as of the 1st of December the Shire will enter the Prohibited Burning Period. No Burning will be permitted by residents after the 30th of November 2017.

An extension to the Restricted Period has been granted to “Fire Brigades Only” until the 14th December 2017 to allow them to complete fuel reduction burns with in the Shire.

After Hours Emergency Contact

For Emergency events like fallen trees on roads and across driveways, call Engineering Works on 0419 910 319.

For emergencies involving animals, including stock posing threats on local government roads, call Ranger Services on 9622 7267.
