The Shire of Northam wishes to advise that Bernard Park Drainage Basin Improvement works will be commencing shortly.

The project will run for several weeks which is located at the Peel Terrace end of Bernard Park.

The project is aimed at providing a more appealing public open space with improved amenities for park users and the local wild life. During this time the Swans will be monitored by the Shire Rangers until such time access will be made available again. The project concept plan can be found here.

The Shire of Northam apologises for any inconvenience during this period and appreciates your cooperation in avoiding the construction area.

As a component of constructing the water playground Council commenced a master planning exercise for the entire Bernard Park locality.  The Masterplan sets forth the proposed development for the area including new pathways, shade structures, landscaping and proposed modifications to the existing detention basin (Swan enclosure).  A copy of this Masterplan is available from this website.  More detailed information on the proposed enhancement works to the detention basin will become available in the near future.
