The Shire of Northam is pleased to announce that Ms Jo Metcalf has commenced in the role of Executive Manager Community Services today, January 18, 2021. Jo brings with her a wealth of experience, with a particular expertise in event development/management, communications and the arts. The Shire is excited to secure her services for the next 5 years.
DFES has declared a TOTAL FIRE BAN for Jan 9th 2021 in its entirety due to forecast weather and widespread firefighting commitments. Furthermore the Shire advises that a Harvest, Vehicle Movement & Hotworks Ban has also been imposed from 0900hrs - 1900hrs. The Shire of Northam is continuing to develop and enhance the Northam CBD, as one element of a long term strategy to position Northam as a vibrant and attractive place to live. As part of this strategy the Shire will be undertaking a number of projects in the coming months.

DFES has declared a Total Fire Ban for the AVON fire weather district which includes the Shire of Northam due to the forecast severe weather event for this weekend.
The State Government has amended regulations to increase penalties for people who illegally park vehicles in ACROD bays in Western Australia. Fines for the misuse of ACROD bays will increase from $300 to $500, with court-imposed penalties to increase from a maximum of $2,000 to $5,000.
