Pulse Oximeters Distribution to Country WA

Published on Tuesday, 1 March 2022 at 3:05:48 PM

As the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve WA Health has established a Home Monitoring Program. This program aims to assess the status of people who require support when COVID-19 positive, but do not require hospitalisation.  This can be done with the help of a pulse oximeter; a handheld, non-invasive, peg-like device that clips onto a person’s finger to measure oxygen saturation and heart rate.

For COVID-19 positive people under the WA COVID Care at Home program, pulse oximeters allow specialists to remotely monitor their health, provide clinical assessment and identify if hospitalisation is required.

Anyone that falls into one of the below categories can now pick up a free pulse oximeter (one per household):

  • Aboriginal and aged 50 and over
  • Non-aboriginal and aged 65 and over
  • Pregnant

Please visit the Shire of Northam’s Administration Building to collect your free pulse oximeter.

NOTE: Do not pick up a pulse oximeter if you are already COVID-19 positive, you will be contacted by the Department of Health WA.
