Unrestricted Burning

The Shire of Northam has now entered the Unrestricted Burning Period.

 

Due to the sustained fuel dryness, the Shire encourages all residents to ensure that there planned burn is conducted safely to ensure your fire does not pose a threat to the community.

 

The Department of Fire & Emergency Services has created some fantastic free resources you can use to ensure that your burning is conducted safely, and with minimal impact on neighbouring properties.

 

Before you burn, it is recommended pop over the DFES BurnSmart website, that is full of information about how to properly plan your hazard reduction burn.

Remember your burn is your responsibility, and as such its important to remind all residents conducting burning to be mindful of your neighbouring properties, and also mindful of the impact the smoke from your fire may have on infrastructure such as roads and highways.

 

Always register your burn with the DFES Communications Centre on 9395 9209, to limit our volunteer firefighters from being called out unnecessarily.
