NOTICE OF INTENTION TO LEVY DIFFERENTIAL RATES 2018/2019

The Shire of Northam hereby gives notice in accordance with section 6.36 of the Local Government Act 1995, of its intention to levy differential rates and minimum rates for the 2018/2019 financial year, including a rate on all properties with a predominant land use of commercial, industrial, community purposes to raise an amount of $127,000 towards a marketing campaign for Northam via the Northam Chamber of Commerce and in accordance with Shire of Northam Local Planning Scheme Number 6, for the 2018/2019 financial year. Details of the various rate categories are available for public inspection at the Shire’s Administration Office and are as follows:

Minimum Rate:

A minimum rate of $923.00 per assessment will apply to all areas throughout the Shire of Northam. A statement of objectives and reasons for adopting the above rates is available for inspection at the Office of Council. If you require additional information, please contact Council’s Executive Manager Corporate Services, Mr Colin Young during office hours on 08 9622 6100. Landowners are invited to make written submissions to Council’s proposed differential rates until 3.00 pm on Friday, 3rd August 2018 and are to be addressed to the Chief Executive Officer, Shire of Northam, PO Box 613, Northam WA 6401.

BAKERS HILL ROADWORKS

Main Roads Improvements – Great Eastern Highway, Bakers Hill

Lendlease continue to work on the new access points on to the Great Eastern Highway at Bakers Hill and we thank you for your patience during these works. In early July, Lendlease will be installing kerbing and footpaths which will include a new truck parking bay in close proximity to the pie shop. A new turning left pocket in to New Street (road between the information bay and the estate agents) will also be constructed. Improvements to the Berry Brow Road intersection will be undertaken at the end of July. There has been significant delays due to the rain however we are anticipating for an asphalt seal to be placed around the end of August.

Mount Ommanney Road, Northam - Asphalt works pending

Trimmer Road, Northam - In Progress - Final Stages

Chidlow / Hawes / Burgoyne intersection, Northam  - Nearing Completion

Coates Road, Wundowie - Under Assessment

Jennapullin Road, Southern Brook - in prgress

Spencers Brook Road, Spencer Brook - In Progress

Access will be limited during this time.  Please observe Traffic Management on site. Apologies for any inconvenience.
