Visitor Centre 

The Northam Visitors Centre is located at 2 Grey Street in Northam on the banks of the river. 

The friendly staff at the Visitors Centre will be able to offer advice on places to see, stay and eat while you are in the area, information on heritage sites and the places of interest that you may enjoy during your stay. 

The Centre includes an interpretive space featuring the “Sense of Place” Migrant Exhibition, and Avon Valley Arts Society Exhibition. While you are at the Centre you will also have the opportunity to browse through a wide range of local produce and artwork, and a great selection of souvenirs and gifts to remember your time in Northam. Free Wifi is also available at the centre.

Visit Northam via the Avonlink train, giving you the opportunity to relax and take in the beautiful scenery along the way. With free Wi-Fi on board, this is the perfect way to round off your trip to Northam. Tickets are available online, at train stations, or at the Northam Visitor Centre. You can also buy your tickets on the train to make your trip even easier!

Where can I see the swans?

Various areas of the Avon River including near the Suspension Bridge and also Swan enclosure. Please ask at Visitor Centre for latest sightings.

When are certain annual events?

  • Motor Sport Festival is in April of each year.
  • Bilya River Festival August of each year.
  • Avon Descent is in August of each year.

Where does the Avon Decent start from? Which way do they go?

The Avon Decent begins at the Start Tower near the Visitor Centre and heads towards Peel Terrace Bridge and over the weir to Perth.

Do you have free/RV camping?

Our free camping spots are Northam RV Park, Eadine Springs in Clackline or Wundowie RV Park. Must be fully self-contained.

Where can I see the balloons? What time of year can I do a flight?

Each year from April to November, you can take to the skies on a balloon flight over the picturesque Avon Valley followed by a beautiful Northam breakfast. Click here to find out more!
