Bakers Hill

If you are visiting the Shire of Northam from Perth, you will pass through Bakers Hill on the Great Eastern Highway between the towns of Wundowie and Clackline.

During World War II, Bakers Hill was the location of the 62nd Field Park Company of the Royal Australian Engineers (RAE), but today the small town is home to a quiet yet active community and an abundance of wildlife and walk trails.

Stop in Bakers Hill to visit the famous Bakers Hill Pie Shop, sample the delights at the Summer Creek Restaurant & Brewery, and seize your opportunity to get a photograph by the old railway platform.

Interesting Fact: Originally known as Mount Baker in 1897, Baker’s Hill was renamed in 1902 to avoid confusion with the town of Mount Barker in the Great Southern area. The apostrophe was removed from the name in 1944, and the town because the Bakers Hill we know today.
