Northam a 'SuperTown'
On the 12 August 2011, the Hon Brendon Grylls MLA, Minister for Regional Development; Lands, announced that Northam was to be one of nine inaugural SuperTowns which this government believes can play a privotal role in decentralising the forecast population growth. The aim of SuperTowns is to prepare Northam communities not only for its own natural population expansion but also to give it the capacity, vibrancy, and commercial and industry base that will provide an attractive choice for people wanting to live in regional towns, especially as metropolitan density rises.
Part of the SuperTowns planning process is the involvement of a local Community Reference Group as a sounding board for community views on development proposals under this program. The following local community members have been invited to participate as members of this Community Reference Group.
Cr Steven Pollard, Cr Ray Head, Cr Kathy Saunders, Ms Joanne Lee, Ms Amanda Abbott, Mr Paul Tomlinson, Mr Simon Northey
