​The Shire of Northam in partnership with the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries is proud to deliver the KidSport program to our community.

Help connect children with community sport with up to $500 available per financial year from KidSport.

What is KidSport?

The KidSport program helps keep kids healthy and active through participation in sport by providing financial assistance to families. Vouchers can be used for club registration fees, and essential playing equipment, and uniforms.

Eligible children between 5 and 18 years, who are named on a valid Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card, can receive up to $500 available per financial year. KidSport Application KidSport Portal

Am I Eligible?

All Western Australian children aged 5 to 18 with a valid Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card. Changes to the KidSport program were announced on 7 July 2024, with the KidSport policy updated to include:

  • increase from $300 to $500 funding per eligible child, per financial year.

The KidSport Program continues to support:

  • Costs for essential uniforms and equipment
  • Easier access to KidSport for asylum seekers, refugees, humanitarian entrants, and children in care.

What Else?

  • Funding will cover the cost of fees to join the nominated sport or recreation club
  • Maximum of up to $500 per child
  • Applications can only receive funding once per calendar year
  • Fees are only for the nominated registered season
  • No retrospective fees will be paid
  • No limitation to applications per family as long as the criteria is met
