Asbestos Disposal Online Bookings

Important change for asbestos disposal

From 1 February 2026, all asbestos disposals at the Shire of Northam will need to be pre-booked at least 24 hours in advance.

This helps us keep everyone safe and the site running smoothly.

Skip Bin Service

The Shire of Northam provides residents a Free Skip Bin Service per property, per financial year with limited bookings available (first in basis).

This service provides a large 4.5 cubic metre bin delivered to each approved property for mixed domestic waste.

How can I access this service?

A free skin bin can also be booked with the Avon Waste on 9641 1318

The bins are delivered on Tuesdays for Northam town residents, Thursdays for other towns within the Shire and collected after a period of one week (7 days).

As there are a limited number of bins available and are allocated on a first-in, first served basis. This service is currently at a 2-month waiting period.

Where will my bin be placed?

Each 4.5 cubic metre red bin will be placed on the verge immediately outside the requesting property. Exact placement of the bins is up to the discretion of the driver to ensure accessibility.

Please understand that these bins cannot be delivered onto your private property for safety reasons.

What am I allowed to dispose of in my skip bin?

  • White Goods – Fridges, Stoves etc
  • General Junk – Furniture and Household Items
  • Tree and Shrub Pruning

What am I not allowed to dispose of in my skip bin?

  • Asbestos
  • Paint
  • Chemicals & Oils Bricks
  • Sand & Concrete
  • Foodstuff
  • Vehicle Bodies or Part Vehicle Bodies
  • Batteries & Tyres
  • Gas Cylinders
