The Shire of Northam is currently in a RESTRICTED BURNING PERIOD. All burning activities require a permit and applications will only be accepted from primary producers (Agricultural) only. No single cubic meter burns accepted. For more information and to apply for a permit, click HERE.
Outbuildings are Class 10 structures including Sheds, Garages, Carports & Patios and have an impervious roof
A building permit is required to construct all outbuildings it the floor area is more than 10m2 or if the height is more than 2.4m.
A pergola or shade sail is an open sided Structure with an open roof or an impervious roof (eg. shade Cloth)
A building permit is required for a pergola or shade sail if the floor area exceeds 20m2 or if the height is more than 2.4m.
A water tank that has a capacity of more than 5000 litres requires a building permit.
