The Shire of Northam is currently in a RESTRICTED BURNING PERIOD. All burning activities require a permit and applications will only be accepted from primary producers (Agricultural) only. No single cubic meter burns accepted. For more information and to apply for a permit, click HERE.
Various Extractive Industries operate within the Shire of Northam. These provide an important supply of local and regional resources, and also provide raw materials to some industries operating within the Shire. Extractive Industries require both planning approval and an Extractive Industry licence from the Shire of Northam.
Planning approvals are usually granted for a period of between two and ten years, while licences are issued annually. An Extractive Industry licence can only be issued where a current planning approval exists.
The information contained within the following checklist is required to be supplied by the proponent, in plan and written form, to assist Shire of Northam staff in assessing a proposed Extractive Industry.
