SHIRE OF NORTHAM SUSTAINABILITY

The Shire continues to lead by example through water-wise practices, including smart irrigation, water reuse, native landscaping, and active water monitoring.

The Shire has been a recognised Waterwise Council since 2018 and achieved Gold status in 2024.

The Shire is leading by example by:

• Using reused water to irrigate ovals and parks
• Installing smart irrigation systems in parks and reserves
• Using native and drought-tolerant plants in landscaping
• Using mulch to protect soil and reduce water evaporation
• Conducting regular leak checks and water audits at Shire facilities
• Incorporating waterwise design in new projects and upgrades
• Using the computer program Azility to track bills, water use, and generate reports.
• Holding regular Water Management Team Meetings to discuss waterwise solutions.
