Michael and his family moved to Northam in July 2004 and purchased his home in Northam in 2005. Michael was a Police Officer for nearly twenty years with the majority of his policing career being spent in the Wheatbelt Region. Michael spent some of that time as a Councillor for the Shire of Merredin. He left the WA Police in 2014, to pursue a career in the legal profession, serving two and half years in the Parliament of Western Australia as an Advisory Officer for the Legislative Council. Michael commenced his small legal practice in Northam in 2016 and is very community focused. Michael has been fortunate throughout his career to have gained experience working in all three levels of government. It is with this experience that he wishes to continue to serve the community, as a Councillor for the Shire of Northam.

Steve has been a Shire of Northam Councillor since 2007 and Shire President for those 10 years to 2017. He was born in Northam and is a semi-retired accountant, having spent his working career in public accounting. That diverse experience gives him a good ability to help oversee the financial, governance and positive directions of the Council. Government and private investment in the Shire has grown significantly in recent years and he is keen to continue to ensure that the benefits of that investment flows through everyone. He and his wife Kathy and I have 3 adult children and 7 grandchildren so creating a lasting legacy for their futures is a key motivation for him.

Terry has lived in the West Ward for 47 years and is heavily involved in the community, sporting clubs and previously emergency services. Terry was Deputy Shire President from 2011 to 2017 and has sufficient time to commit as your Council representative. Terry is not a one issue person and will not make outlandish promises, but will continue to push for improved facilities. This includes aged care, medical, light industrial precincts as well as improvements in facilities for kids, adults and seniors. The West of the Shire is still expanding and we must continually plan for impending subdivisions, population growth and the pressure this will put on present infrastructure. While doing the above we must retain our rural lifestyle and country way of life. Terry will do his best to achieve what has been briefly outlined and continue to improve what we already have.

Cr Tinetti has been involved in many community organisations including President of the Rotary Club of Northam, Share and Care and Northam Chamber of Commerce. Through his family business he supports many sporting clubs and Not For Profit groups through Sponsorship but the main focus is raising  funds for the Cancer Council by hosting The Biggest Morning Tea over the past 19 years. Cr Tinetti moved to Northam with his young family in 1985 and believes Northam has an exciting future.

John came to Northam with his wife Julie at the beginning of 2004 to manage and edit the Avon Valley Advocate. This follows 20 years of running country newspapers in three States. Before that he worked in the Papua New Guinea National Parliament and the Parliament of Tasmania, managing the record of parliamentary debates (Hansard). John maintains his commitment to community development. He believes Northam will grow and prosper as he considers the current ribbon development along the coast excessively expensive and counter-productive, referring to the suburbs north of Perth as 'South Geraldton' and to the south as 'North Busselton'. With its transport links and location, John considers  Northam an ideal place  to live and work. He is confident the current major developments in the Shire are an indication of the future. Originally from the mining city of Broken Hill in New South Wales, John is keeping a close watch on possible mining projects in the Shire. John maintains his strong community interest. He was the vice-president of the Northam Chamber of Commerce and is a board member of the Avon Community Development Foundation. As well, John is an active member of the local Anglican Church.

Julie has lived in Bakers Hill for over 20 years with her husband, who operates a small business in Wundowie, and their 7 children.  She is passionate about the Shire of Northam and has been actively involved in the community, particularly in the Central Ward, which she has represented on the Shire of Northam council since 2011. Julie campaigned to keep the ward structure in place in the Shire for another 8 years as she believes there is a need for local representation on council, to ensure communities outside the town of Northam have fair and equitable access to the Shire’s services and facilities, have a say in how their ward should develop and grow, and have a voice on matters that concern them.  She is currently a member of the Spencers Brook, Clackline and Bakers Hill Progress Associations (secretary at Bakers Hill) and has been a long time member of many other local committees, including over 10 years as president at both Bakers Hill/Clackline Playgroup and Bakers Hill Primary School P&C.  Julie believes that any development or industry should benefit the residents of the Shire and not adversely affect the Shire environmentally, aesthetically or economically.

Chris is a married father of three young children, has been a landholder in Wundowie for over 20 years and a resident for more than 16 years. Chris owns Misty Ridge Plant Farm and through his business, he showcases what the Shire has to offer and encourages further tourism. With the recent land subdivisions, he believes that the Shire requires a new direction to encourage small businesses that are sustainable and do not impact on neighbours. This would provide services and employment for the residents. The West Ward has a deep affection with horses and off-road motorcycles. Whilst horse riders have the bridal trial, there are only a few listed areas where motorcycle enthusiasts can enjoy their sport.
