PROPOSED DOG AMENDMENT LOCAL LAW 2018

PROPOSED EXTRACTIVE INDUSTRIES AMENDMENT LOCAL LAW 2018 

At the Shire of Northam Ordinary Council meeting 21 March 2018, Council voted to commence the local law making process pursuant to section 3.12 of the Local Government Act 1995. The Shire of Northam proposes to commence the process of making the following local laws and invites comments from the community:

 Dogs Amendment Local Law 2018

Purpose:         
The Shire of Northam Dogs Amendment Local Law 2018 makes amendments to the Shire of Northam Dogs Local Law 2008 which provides for the orderly management of kennels and dogs within the Shire of Northam.

Effect:             
Inserts additional definitions and deletes some definitions to enhance operation of the local law and clarifies the drafting and operation of some clauses including increases to penalties for prescribed offences.

Extractive Industries Amendment Local Law 2018

Purpose:          
The Shire of Northam Extractive Industries Amendment Local Law 2018 makes amendments to the Shire of Northam Extractive Industries Local Law 2008 which provides for the orderly management of such industries.

Effect:             
Inserts additional definitions and deletes some definitions to enhance the operation of the local law and clarifies the drafting and operation of some clauses including increases to penalties for prescribed offences.

A copy of the local laws may be inspected at the Shire of Northam Administration Office, the Northam and Wundowie Libraries, or on the Shire’s website.

Submissions and comments about the local laws may be made to the Shire prior to 4pm Monday 21 May 2018.
