Restricted Burning Period | Expansion of Permit Conditions
The Shire of Northam has entered the Restricted Burning Period.
 
Permits are now available for canola and lupin stubble for crop preparation.
 
𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗱:
• 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗧𝗼 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗻 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱: Permits will only be issued to Primary Producers to burn canola and lupin stubble for crop preparation purposes on land greater than 20ha.
• 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀: Until further restrictions are eased, no further burning will be permitted, including cubic metre burns (1m3).
• 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀: No burning is permitted when the Fire Danger Rating is “HIGH” or above.
Notifications are no longer being issued for High Fire Danger Ratings by the Shire of Northam.
Permit holders must check Fire Danger Rating via Emergency WA before conducting any burns.
 
All other burning is prohibited. This will be regularly reviewed, and relaxed as conditions improve.
