𝗦𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗱 𝗶𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴
Starting from 00:01hrs on 13 October 2025, the Shire of Northam will implement the Restricted Burning Period. Please note that these dates may be extended due to unseasonal weather conditions. Any changes will be communicated via our website, social media, and SMS notifications.
Important Guidelines for when the Restriction comes into effect:
• 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗧𝗼 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗻 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱: If you plan to burn on your property, you must obtain a permit. Permits are required until the Prohibited Burning Period starts at the beginning of December.
• 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀: During the Spring Restricted Period, properties over 2000m² and outside the gazetted townsite may burn a single pile (up to 1m³) of garden refuse (dry leaves, small branches, offcuts, etc.) between 6 PM and 11 PM. as per the Bush Fire Act 154 Section 24F
• 𝗡𝗼 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗲𝘀: Please refrain from having campfires during this time.
• 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀: No burning is permitted when the Fire Danger Rating is “HIGH” or above.
