Shire of Northam is excited to announce the new arrival of four new baby swans (cygnets) born 5 November 2022 to proud parents. These beautiful creatures need all our help to watch over them and keep them safe.
Sadly, we have reports that members of the community have been stoning and disturbing the waterfowl and their nests around the Avon River town pool area.
This is an offence and persons can be prosecuted which could result in fines of up to $12,500.
If you have any concerns, please contact the Shire's Rangers 9622 7267 or Northam Police 9622 4260.
Our river is a community asset and is abundant with many different bird species for everyone to enjoy.
Please help us protect our wildlife and their babies.
