LOCAL PLANNING SCHEME NO.6

DRAFT LOCAL PLANNING POLICY AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION

 

The Shire of Northam has prepared the following draft Local Planning Policy and public comments are invited:

Local Planning Policy No.23 – Outbuildings in the Residential & Mixed Use Zones.

The purpose of the Policy is to provide local variation to the provisions of the R-Codes relating to outbuildings.

The primary objectives of this Policy are to:

  1. Recognise the unique characteristics of outbuilding development in the Shire not adequately catered for by the R-Codes; and
  2. Provide appropriate development standards for outbuildings that reflect the Shire’s climate, lifestyle and built form and do not detrimentally affect the amenity of the property or adjoining properties.

A copy of the draft Policy is available for inspection at the Shire’s Administration Centre located at 395 Fitzgerald Street, Northam. Comments on the draft policy may be submitted to the Shire in writing on or before the 26th day of April 2017. Note: This Policy has been designed to replace Shire of Northam Local Planning Policy No.1 – Outbuildings. After the expiry of the period within which submissions may be made, Shire staff will review the draft Policy in light of any submissions made and make a recommendation to the Council of the Shire of Northam. If the Council resolves to proceed with the Policy (with or without modification), the Shire’s current Local Planning Policy No.1 – Outbuildings will be rescinded.
