Air Quality Monitoring 

Under the National Environment Protection Council (Western Australia) Act 1996 for ambient air quality, the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation is required to monitor a range of air pollutants in areas where populations exceed 25,000 people.
 
Although the Northam townsite is under this threshold, it has been selected as an area where air quality will be monitored.
