Community Safety and Crime Prevention

Our vision is for the Shire of Northam to be a vibrant growing community that is safe, caring and inclusive, so as such the Shire of Northam have a strong commitment towards the ongoing improvement of our community's safety and reducing crime.  

Shire of Northam Community Safety Committee

The Shire of Northam Community Safety Committee has a close working relationship with key stakeholders to plan and implement community safety and crime prevention initiatives. 

The objective of the Community Safety Committee is to enhance community safety and reduce criminal and anti-social behaviour through a collaboration of key interests and agencies. It is a formally appointed committee of Council and as such it provides advice and recommendations to Council on matters of community safety and crime prevention.

The committee consists of representatives from the Shire of Northam, Northam and Wundowie Police, Northam RoadWise Committee, Department of Health, Local Drug Action Group, the Northam Chamber of Commerce, Department of Education, Department of Sport and Recreation, Housing Authority, Northam PCYC, Avon Youth and Community Services, Department of Child Protection, Department of Main Roads, Department of Fire and Emergency Services and representatives from the community.  

Community Safety and Crime Prevention Plan

The Shire of Northam Community Safety and Crime Prevention (CSCP) Plan 2022-2026 is a four year strategic outlook for the Shire of Northam that aims to map the issues of primary concern to the community and document the strategies and partnerships to deal with these issues.
