The Regional Athlete Travel Subsidy Scheme - Round 1 of 2018/19

Dates: Monday 13 August 2018 to Friday 14 September 2018

The Regional Athlete Travel Subsidy Scheme (ATSS) assists talented regional athletes with out-of-pocket travel and accommodation costs associated with competing at eligible regional, state and national championships or events that fall within the performance pathway controlled by the recognised SSA / NSO. 

Regional athletes apply online through the Sport and Recreation (WA) website for Round 1 of 2018/19 from Monday 13 August 2018 to Friday 14 September 2018 for eligible events with start dates from 15 May 2018 to 15 December 2018.

Please refer to the Department’s website for further details, the Guidelines (which includes a summary of all information required to complete the application) and sport-specific pathway mapping documents to assist you understanding which of your sport’s squads/events are eligible. Volunteer Grants 2018

Dates: Applications close at 2:00pm AEST on 18 September 2018. 

The Australian Government is inviting applications via an open process to apply for funding to support volunteers. 

Volunteer Grants aim to support the efforts of Australia's volunteers by:

  • providing small amounts of money that organisations and community groups can use to help their volunteers
  • forming part of the Government's work to support the volunteers who help disadvantages Australian communities and encourage inclusion of vulnerable people in community life. 

The Volunteer Grants 2018 funding round will provide funding of between $1,000 and $5,000 to eligible individuals and not-for-profit community organisations. This funding is to be used to: 

  • purchase eligible small equipment items for use by volunteers
  • contribute to volunteers' fuel costs
  • contribute to transport costs for volunteers with disability who are unable to drive
  • assist with the costs of training courses
  • undertake background screening checks for volunteers. 


The Community Sport Infrastructure Grant

Dates: Applications close on the 14 September 2018

This program enables local sport and community organisations to apply for grants up to $500,000 that upgrade community sport infrastructure. 
Applications for these grants are now open and successful grants will support projects like:
• Upgrades to playing surfaces;
• Building, expanding and/or upgrading change rooms;
• Improved sports lighting and safety lighting; and
• Improvements to spectator amenities.

Small Grants for Rural Communities (SGRC) - Round 24

Dates: Applications close on the 26 September 2018

The Small Grants for Rural Communities (SGRC) is the longest running and broadest program FRRR offers, opening twice per year.

Since its inception, the program has supported hundreds of small communities in that time, investing millions of dollars into local projects.

It is a great example of a collaborative program that is supported by various partners, and it has the flexibility to address issues that make a real difference to the sustainability of rural, regional and remote communities.

Grants of up to $5,000 are available for projects and activities that offer clear public benefit for communities in rural, regional or remote Australia. Priority is given to communities of 10,000 or fewer.


Stronger Communities Programme - Round 4

Dates: Expression of Interest to be submitted by 31 August 2018

Applications for grants between $2,500 and $20,000 are now available through Round 4 of the Stronger Communities Programme!

The Stronger Communities Programme has seen many great projects delivered in our local community, including:

  • Netball equipment for Quinns District Netball Club; 
  • Car park upgrades at Swan Athletics Sporting Club; 
  • Upgraded AV and computer equipment for Parkland Villas; and
  • Display panels and lighting for art exhibitions at the Avon Valley Arts Society.

This is a great opportunity for local councils and eligible not-for-profit organisations and community groups to apply for funding for small capital projects.
