Work/Life

Domestic and Family Violence leave

We care for the safety and wellbeing of our people and are committed to a workplace culture where our people are safe, respected and feel valued. Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) is serious, therefore we can make a difference to employees by providing a safe environment and specific support measures.

Recreational and other leave benefits

We provide paid annual leave in line with industry standards, accrued progressively during the year, accumulating each year.

In addition to personal and carers leave, some of the other leave benefits that may be available to employees are cultural leave, gender affirmation leave, military leave, leave to undertake jury duties, natural disaster and emergency services leave. We will also provide an additional weeks leave for employees who are selected to represent Western Australia or Australia in their area of interest to attend national or international events

Flexible working

Depending upon the role you hold within Shire of Northam , there may be several flexible working arrangements available to you - part time employment, job sharing, adjusting start or finish times, flexible work schedules, working from home and graduated return to work.

Free Membership to Council owned Recreation Facilities

The Shire of Northam has both aquatic facilities, and recreation centres. As an employee of the Shire of Northam you will be provided with free season passes or access to these facilities where the activities are being run by the Shire of Northam. For more details go to.

We have a partnership with local physiotherapist and gym ????. As an employee at the Shire of Northam you will receive a XX% discount on memberships and preventative physiotherapy appointments (we would need to negotiate is it is even possible)
