The Shire of Northam is currently in a RESTRICTED BURNING PERIOD. All burning activities require a permit and applications will only be accepted from primary producers (Agricultural) only. No single cubic meter burns accepted. For more information and to apply for a permit, click HERE.
The Northam Youth Wellbeing Plan (YWP) is a Shire wide initiative driven by a committee comprising of key stakeholders in the areas of youth, health and wellbeing, education, and community safety.
The Northam Youth Wellbeing Plan seeks to address the harms associated with alcohol and other drug use, build resilience and improve wellbeing to reduce the incidence of risky behaviours of young people within the community through:
The Plan was developed using best practice principles; the analysis of several consultation documents and reports dating from 2017-2018 and three Northam Shire Alcohol and Other Drug Management Plan review workshops involving the Western Australian Mental Health Commission and key Northam Shire stakeholders (February, March and May 2018) have provided the context for the YWP.
