Been thinking of jumping on to the competition BBQ scene in 2021, little nervous on what to expect, how to prepare, or competed before and want to fine tune your cook?? Welll...
For those that know me, Jules, and our Smokin Hot JAGRD Edge team you'll know that over the last 6 years I’ve had a huge passion with competing in BBQ competitions, which has taken us across our beautiful country to Brisbane and all the way to the 2017 Houston Livestock and Rodeo World BBQ Championship to compete, to still be getting call ups today, placing us 1st in Brisket on the 2020 overall KCBS (Kansas City BBQ Society) Australian leaderboard...
At the same time Glenn and myself enjoy nothing more than to share the love of BBQ and to see new teams come on the field, building the challenge of the sport here, to see husband and wife teams, best mates, and families from all backgrounds working together to spread the love of BBQ, and with the one goal, to nail that damn brisket!!
So we plan on helping fast track your BBQ comp experience by teaching you our tricks, lessons learnt along the way, to help you take your very own walk in the 2021 BBQ Competition Season with a little more knowledge, confidence, and ready for the Chidlow Taverns Spit in the Hills on the 1st to 3rd of May!!
This is a hands on course that will be a Mock overnight competition cook in all 4 KCBS categories with all meats supplied:
Chicken
Pork Ribs
Pork
Brisket
We'll go over all KCBS rules, advise what to ask your butcher for when it comes to each protein, teach you trimming of all meats, different styles, flavour profiles, fuel, times and temps, what to pack for comp, right down to boxing and presentation.
What your asked to bring:
Imagine your setting up for comp, on 10acres in Bakers Hill.!!
You'd pack your own BBQ, Knives, rubs and sauces for each protein that YOU consider winners, whether your own or store bought, fold away table, chair, tent, swag or camper, drinks, and marquee...
Dinner will be provided as well as breakfast before the rush of turn ins and judging by WA's top judges, giving you some real feedback on your efforts.!!
There is a limited number of positions available so if you want to know how our Smokin' Hot JAGRD Edge BBQ team take their prizes at competition and take your own then this course is definitely for you!
