The Shire of Northam is currently in a RESTRICTED BURNING PERIOD. All burning activities require a permit and applications will only be accepted from primary producers (Agricultural) only. No single cubic meter burns accepted. For more information and to apply for a permit, click HERE.

Notice is hereby given that pursuant to section 18 of the Bush Fires Act 1954, as amended, the Shire of Northam RESTRICTED BURNING PERIOD commences 1 October 2019, until midnight on 30 November 2019.
The burning of garden refuse or rubbish on the ground or in an incinerator that would otherwise be permitted under Section 24F is prohibited on all land under 2000m2 (square metres) in size during the Restricted Burning Time, without a Fire Permit issued under Regulation 15 of the Bush Fires Act 1954. (Permits will only be issued to fire brigades to conduct controlled burns on properties of this size).

Failure to comply with this notice may result in a penalty being issued.
Note: Restricted and Prohibited Burning Times may be varied due to seasonal changes. Due to seasonal weather conditions, permits may not be issued in some instances or further conditions may be imposed at the discretion of a Bush Fire Control Officer
