Since 2017 Community Arts Network (CAN) has worked alongside Noongar artists, Elders and their families to shape the Lullabies program across Noongar Boodja; sharing and celebrating Noongar language through stories, music and song. Over the past 5 years, more than 50 original songs have been written and recorded in language by the Noongar community that celebrate moort (family), koort (heart), and woonya (love). Lullabies is now coming to Northam! You can create beautiful lullabies in Noongar language for your family and the wider Northam Community. Language, songwriting and craft sessions will run from the end of April through to July and there will be a celebration in September. To register your interest or for more information, contact Cyndy Moody or Elly Jones on 0480 262 877 or [email protected]. Come down, have a yarn, and do the Northam community proud. CAN asks that everyone who attends a workshop in person shows their proof of vaccination. If there is enough interest, there will also be online sessions for people who can't make the in person workshops.
