Total Fire Ban and Waste Facility Closure 19/02/2024

The Shire of Northam advises the Department of Fire and Emergency Services have declared a TOTAL FIRE BAN for the Monday, 19th of February 2024 in the Shire of Northam from 0001hrs to 2359hrs, due to EXTREME Fire Weather conditions.
 
The Shire of Northam will be closing both Old Quarry Road and Inkpen Road Waste Management Facilities to the public.
 
Please be advised that the Shire of Northam will be monitoring the weather conditions closely and a Harvest, Vehicle Movement and Hot Works Ban is likely to be implemented tomorrow morning for the duration of the day.
 
During the Total Fire Ban you must not:
Open fires for the purpose of cooking, camping or outdoor entertainment are not allowed including fire pits and bonfires.
 
Hot work such as metal work, grinding, welding, gas cutting is not allowed in the open air except for business and industry if regulatory conditions are met.
 
Off-road activity using a four-wheel drive, quad bike, motorcycle, skid steer or similar vehicle, as well as the the use of internal combustion engine such as chainsaws, lawnmowers, and wipper snippers are not allowed except for agricultural purposes or by industry if regulatory conditions are met.
